Kauai, Hawaii

Introduction

From the valleys to the rain forest to mountains to beaches, the face of Kauai youthful and vibrant, but this 5.5 million year old island is the oldest in the chain of islands that make up Hawaii.


Unlike other Hawaiian islands, the only way to explore Kauai is by river. Many of the sites in Kauai can only be seen from the ocean or the air. However, since Kauai has the only passable rivers in Hawaii, boat tours down this 20 mile long river are the best way to really experience the beauty of the Island.  By law in Kauai, no building can be higher than the palm trees, ensuring a view of Kauai's beauty.

Transporation

There are a number of ways to see Kauai: rental car, taxi or the free shuttle that stops at certain points of interest.


Sightseeing

There is a sugar plantation tour available while in Kauai that lasts about two (2) hours./p>

There are museums, Botanical Gardens and National Parks to visit. You can also visit The Kilauea National Wildlife Refuge.
